I was warned that they would be bad. Yet, they were some of the best nights of sleep I got on the trip (and also 1/3 of them). A 11 hour train ride can cost you $30 and it gives you indistinguishable train food, free water (!!), a hotel for the night and an always the early morning arrival into the next place you want to explore. My only advice for those of you who might be thinking about doing this kind of trip soon is to always bring toilet paper and that the toilets get progressively more disgusting into the night. Also, bring along with you some good companions and then anything will be bearable. Just don’t get stuck alone with loud Vietnamese men who keep talking into the night…
