After hours of flight searching for Indochina the four of us bused to the Veranda in Repulse Bay. We were dressed and ready for high tea there to further commemorate Erin’s 21st birthday. Emma commented that this was one of the places where we saw the most locals (aka Asian people) even though it was to perform a ritual that was solely borrowed from a non-Asian culture. Yes, as we slowly enjoyed our “pink” high tea we felt we were like British nobility or even royalty and needed to discuss things that fit accordingly. So, we tried to gossip but it didn’t last long. Erin has been going to tea for her birthday for a long time now so I think she has some validity when she says that this was the most heavily “dessert” focused one she’s been to. We had pink champagne and little tea sandwiches but everything else seemed to be some form of something small, pretty and sweet. Just as high tea should be I suppose. These experiences are bad for me because they make me understand what having money means.
