The first night we met up with Lorna’s high school friend Lily (another hapa) and Erin’s friend for Cal Greek life, Matt. They are studying in Bangkok and seem to be enjoying themselves thoroughly (Matt has already managed to snag a Thai girlfriend) and Lily has an apartment to herself that is the size of my entire floor. We swapped exchange stories over dinner and then later went to their apartment building where they were hosting a Valen”thai”’s Day party. It was at the top of the building in a suite where three girls live (ridiculously nice with a full fledged kitchen, laundry and an ab machine!) and also on the roof which (at 32 stories high) has a great view of the city. We met other Americans in the program and watched them play beer pong on a table the crafted out of a screen door. It was kind of like taking a party back home and transporting it to a roof in Bangkok…not that cool. So we yawned and thanked our hosts for taking us out and then cabbed back to the hotel to pass out for the night.
